Generally speaking, polyester is thin, light, strong, elastic, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, making it suitable for mountain climbers and hikers. Oxford cloth is thick but relatively heavy, making it suitable for making large tents for driving camping or small groups.
2. From the perspective of the waterproof coating, although PVC (polyvinyl chloride) waterproofing is good, it will become hard and brittle in winter, and is prone to creases or fractures. The PU (polyurethane) coating not only overcomes the shortcomings of PVC but also has a very good waterproof effect.
3. Silver-coated material, which can resist ultraviolet rays, is mainly used for leisure beach tents, sunshade tents, advertising tents, etc.
4. Nowadays, some ultra-light tents are quite popular. Unlike the previous nylon and polyester fabrics that were coated with a PU layer for waterproofing, it uses a silicone-coated (silicone resin) technology. It is much lighter in weight, but also much more expensive.
